Dainty Doll Makeup at Fragrance Direct!

*claxon* Dainty Doll makeup is on Fragrance Direct! *claxon*
I heard about the new addition to Fragrancedirect.co.uk through twitter and within 5 minutes I had already placed my order, Dainty Doll is a brand that I have wanted to try for a very long time, but the price has always put me off. I love that this brand is aimed for pale skinned ladies like me but that anyone with any skin tone can also enjoy the products.

There is quite a lot of products from the range available from blushers, eyeshadow, concealer to double ended mascara/eyeliner, the prices are soo cheap and have been heavily reduced.    I did try to limit myself (although it might not seem like it) and I bought 3 cream blushers, a concealer and a lipstick, I bought another of their lipsticks from a cheapy makeup stall.

Firstly I absolutely love the packaging, the design and the feel is very high quality and I love that the blushers and concealer contain a little mirror, I can't quite bring myself to throw away the boxes they came in just yet!
L-R Billion Dollar Babies, Paper Roses, Orange County Girl & Concealer in 002
I bought all 3 of the cream blushers available, 001 Paper Roses, 002 Orange County Girl and 003 Billion Dollar Babies, and I am really impressed with the quality of the blushers, they are lovely and soft which makes them very easy to blend, when you first apply the colour it is quite sheer but also very buildable, the swatch above was built up after 2 or 3 applications, I'm really looking forward to using Billion Dollar Babies as a cream contour.
The cream blushers are £1.99 - I can't see them on the website anymore so they may have sold out so I would recommend you try a cheapy makeup stall, all of the ones I have seen are selling Dainty Doll makeup too.
I bought the concealer in 002, I haven't really tried it out yet, but it seems like a good match for my skin tone, however it seems like it might be a bit thick for under my eyes.
The concealer is also £1.99.

L-R In His Kiss & Baby Love
I actually bought Baby Love after reading a review from someone saying how much they loved it on the Boots website, and for £1.99 you can't really go wrong, I picked up In His Kiss from a makeup stall.
The lipsticks are lovely quality and feel moisturising, they are very easy to wear.
I was hoping that Baby Love would be more of a pinky nude than it is, and In His Kiss is more of a pearlie pink than I like, so instead of thinking 'meh' to the colours I have been mixing them together which has given me a lovely pink nude colour and at only £3.98 for both it is still cheaper than buying one colour and much better quality.

I really love my Dainty Doll purchases and will be keeping my eye out to get more!

Does anyone know why Dainty Doll makeup is being sold off so cheaply? I know in Boots they are on offer for a 1/3 off also, is the line being discontinued or are they making space for new products?

Coconut Oil - The Wonder Hair Product

Coconut oil has been hailed as a miracle product for a long time and ever since Miranda Kerr mentioned how much she adores it to help keep her skin and hair in tip top condition, sales of coconut oil have apparently went through the roof – who wouldn’t want to look like Mrs Bloom?!  I’d heard about the buzz surrounding the oil for some time, so I was pretty chuffed when Holland & Barrett sent us some to try – I now can’t believe I’ve never tried it before!
It’s generally believed that consuming coconut oil can improve your hair and skin, has anti-aging properties and can apparently be a great aid to losing weight, Miranda Kerr is said to consume several tablespoons a day for a healthier appearance. Other than consuming coconut oil as a supplement there is a million and one ways coconut oil can be used, below is just a few ideas I’ve come across but I'm sure there are MANY more –
•    All over body moisturiser - keep it in the fridge for a great after sun
•    Hair mask/ conditioner
•    A small amount used as a hair oil to add shine and control frizz
•    Rubbed into your scalp it can apparently help get rid of dandruff
•    A great alternative to cooking oil
•    Shave oil
•    Hand and cuticle cream
•    Make up remover

it comes in a solid form an melts when warmed up in your hands
I haven’t yet tried consuming pure coconut oil but I’ve been using this one from Holland and Barrett for the past few months as a body moisturiser and hair mask. I use it as a moisturiser on my super dry patches eg. elbow, knees and feet and I find It’s extremely moisturising and cooling, best of all it smells amazing too – pure coconut bliss. Although it’s worth noting that it does take some time to sink it so light layers are best and definitely not one to put on when your in a hurry!

However my favourite use of all is using Coconut oil as a hair mask. I simply take a chunk of oil and apply the oil all over my hair from root to tip, for as long as possible – usually over night (don’t forget to lay a towel over your pillow though) I then simply shampoo it out in the morning. I’ve found that this leaves my hair feeling supper soft, tangle free and just feels incredibly healthy. For me this is better than ANY hair mask I’ve used before and it’s great to know that it’s all natural no nasty chemicals or sulphates! I would HIGHLY recommend trying this if you enjoy hair masks!!

Overall I couldn't recommend coconut oil enough– the tub is huge so it’s going to last a long time, therefore it works out a LOT cheaper than buying separate products. It’s a winner for me and my new wonder hair product.

Are you as mad about coconut oil as me? Do you have other uses to share?

Are you a fan of Too Faced or Pixi? BARGAIN ALERT!

Are you a Pixi or Too Faced fan?? get your self to your nearest Debenhams now as they have tons and tons of Pixi and Too Faced products on sale up to 70% off. I don't have anything from either of these brands but recently both Elaine and I have really wanted to try Pixi - and here's our chance. I must say tho the really annoying thing is that I couldn't find the original prices anywhere and therefore don't know the actual discount I would receive (but I think its pretty hefty)

Also don't forget to enter our Essie giveaway here!

TRESemmé Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo Review

I picked up this small bottle of TRESemmé Instant Refresh DryShampoo as I’d heard a lot of great things about it and although I’m a huge fan of Batiste I always feel like there must be something better out there. This was going to be a normal review but as I’m so addicted to Batiste its turned into something more of a comparison, anyway here are my thoughts -

Pros
I think the smell is far nicer than any of the Batiste scents (Tropical is my Batiste scent of choice) The TRESemmé shampoo has a lovely fresh citrus scent; which isn’t quite as overpowering, obvious or powdery as Batiste. I also found that TRESemmé’s a lot easier to rub in and not as noticeable than Batiste, when I use this I don’t feel as paranoid that I’ve missed a huge white area (this often happens to me with Batiste, my work colleagues enjoy pointing out the white bits). Finally and probably most importantly I found this really does make my hair feel fresh and gives me that just washed feeling, It’s great to make my hair more manageable for styling and is great for adding a tiny bit more volume.

Cons
I found that this wasn’t quite as strong as Batiste, my hair isn’t THAT greasy on day 2 when I’m usually in need but I felt I needed an awful lot more of TRESemmé to take away the oil, whereas with Batiste I only need one quick squirt. I therefore used a lot more product so the bottle of TRESemmé didn’t last very long at all, not great as it is more expensive than Batiste.

Will I repurchase?
Yes although not necessarily as a dry shampoo. I will still be buying Batiste as my normal dry shampoo (for no time to wash my hair days) but I am going to buy another bottle of TRESemmé, perhaps the Volumising Dry Shampoo to have around as more of a styling tool, just to freshen my hair up, add a bit of volume and to make my just washed hair more manageable for styling.

Currently the TRESemmé Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo
is £4.79 for 200ml at Boots or buy any 2 TRESemmé offer products for a £5, Bargain!

I’d love to know if you have any dry shampoo’s you can recommend?  & What’s your favourite Batiste scent?

TK Maxx Nail Extravagansa

If you haven't already heard TK Maxx are really upping their game when it comes to beauty products we were just in there this morning and we found amazing cosmetic bargains from Stila, Pixi, Elizabeth Arden, Bourjois and more, there were also bargains from Garnier and Bedhead. Although I think bargain hunters had got there before us as there wasn't much left!

But what excited us most was their stand of Nails Inc, Essie, Andrea Fullerton and Leighton Denny nail varnishes!!!

They had a whole section of Nails Inc gift sets ranging from £9.99 to £24.99, with a mix of old season colours such as glitter, darks and summer brights.

The above set caught our eye the most it would be a great present for any nail varnish addict, unfortunately we are both skint so couldn't justify buying the set when we have hundreds of nail varnishes already.

They also had ESSIE nail varnishes in sets of three for a bargain price of £9.99... we absolutely squealed with delight as we had been dying to try them out, they were all classic pink/red/manicure colours. This is the set that Rachel bought.

We also sneakily hand picked the nicest spring colours to make a set for a giveaway!

We definitely will be making more trips to TK Maxx for bargains!

NOTD - H&M Blue My Mind

I featured this nail varnish in a mini haul/shopping H&M post and I must say its my new favourite nail polish. As you can see its a fantastic bold and undeniably bright blue. I don't think this photo really does it justice as in real life I find it much brighter and slightly darker. I'd say it was comparable to the famous Nails Inc Baker Street but I personally prefer this cheap one from H&M at only £2.99. This photo is with two coats and lasted a good few days before chipping, although I must say it was a bit of a pain to apply as I found the formula quite thick - thicker than my other H&M polishes.

So what do you think? Do you own any H&M nail polishes?

Magazine Freebies! Glamour, Instyle, Marie Claire & Red...

July must be the month for amazing freebies on magazines! All magazines are out NOW so hurry if you want your freebies... especially Glamour (that sells out quick!).

Glamour
Eva Longoria and Fearne Cotton are also on this month's Glamour covers.
Glamour are giving away sample/travel sizes of Benefit favourites Porefessional, That Gal and Bad Gal mascara, I have already been out and bought a few glamour magazines to get the Porefessional and That Gal (the shop assistant did look at me like I was crazy but I don't mind). Glamour is only £2 so it's well worth stocking up!

Instyle

Instyle have free full sized mascara and black or navy eyeliner from the Body Shop, I was tempted to get the mascara but I have tried body shop mascara before and wasn't impressed, and I have enough eyeliner to last me a lifetime!

Marie Claire

Marie Claire are offering free Ciate nail polish in three shades, I have only seen two so far a lilac and nice beige shade, both colours I have loads of so decided to give this a miss too.

Red

Red are offering free full sized Jemma Kidd Makeup School volumising mascara or eyeliner, I was really looking forward to this offer, so I got the mascara, I tried it out last night and it was actually quite good but with too many coats it can get a bit clumpy but well worth it at only
£3.90. Red have been brilliant with their giveaways the past couple of months!

This is a great month for freebies! I love this time of year!!

Amazing Maxi Dress Ebay Find

I bought this Maxi Dress after seeing it on another blog (sorry I can't remember the name) it's an absolute bargain at only £11.49, they have a huge range of colours available, although I think quite a few have sold out now.
They only do sizes 10/12 and 14/16, I absolutely hate this sort of sizing it never is the size it claims to be, but I took a chance and got the 14/16, I have to admit it was a bit tight on the top so for now I will wear it with a jacket or a cardy, but the rest of the maxi was really flattering, I think the 'tucked in' waist is really flattering for curvy girls (like me).
I really love it and I'm soo pleased that the sun has come out so I can wear it all the time!

Bargain Zara Sandals!

I was Zara the other day and saw these gorgeous sandals for only £19.99!
I had to have them straightaway.
The only thing was that I found the toe strap to be a little tight so I've actually bought them a size bigger, hopefully they won't stretch and become too big!
I'm not normally a Zara fan (although Rachel is obsessed and is always dragging me there), but it just seems like this season they have loads of great things at really reasonable prices.

What do you think of Zara?

Update: These sandals are in the summer sale for £15.99! Bargain!

Drinks in London Outfit

I went down to London last weekend to see my lovely friend Joyce, I really enjoyed my weekend catching up, luckily it was sunny while we were there so we went to Spitalfield and Brick Lane markets which were amazing, I really wish Newcastle had markets like that!

I thought I would share with you the outfit I wore when we went out for drinks.
I saw one woman with the same dress and another with the trousers in the same pattern! I'm not surprised though I can't believe how much of a bargain this H&M dress was, it's not a clingy dress so it's really comfortable to wear.

H&M Dress - £14.99
Miss Selfridge Biker Jacket - £52
Miss Selfridge Ditsy Hand Necklace - £6.50
Topshop Sandals - £25 in the sale, £50 originally - Bargain (Rachel bought them too!)

I recently bought the biker jacket online, I got it in the smaller size as I wanted it to be my motivation to lose weight... I know it's a bit risky if you don't actually do it!
I really like the jacket but if you ever want to zip it up I would recommend getting it about 3 sizes bigger but it might end up being far too big on your shoulders!! Luckily I don't really ever zip/button up my coats don't really know why!

Do you buy motivation clothes too? Is it too risky??

Deals of the Week - Superdrug 3 for 2, Boots £5 No7 & Fragrance Voucher, Clinique Mascara Swap

Here's a few of my favorite deal this week -

This for me is the most exciting  - Superdrug have 3 for 2 on all cosmetics until the 6th of June (perfect if you pay day is at the end of the month like me) I've got a huge list of highstreet/drugstore products I can't wait to try. However I must say recently when I've been into my local Superdrug the make-up section has been a complete mess and everything I want is either sold out or the samples have been stolen so you can't try them! extremely annoying, sort it out Superdrug!

Boots £5 No7 and Fragrance Voucher -
Yey its back just in time as I need a new BB cream. I still love that Boots do this and I plan to get as many as possible, I always buy the foundation, nail polishes, brushes and wipes from No7 when these vouchers are out. I'm also glad to see a fragrance voucher this time instead of the eye test!   All you have to do is spend £5 in store to get a free voucher and what I usually do as I'm a cheapskate is spend my voucher and buy something else ( lunch) to tip me over £5 to get another voucher. The voucher is valid until the 26th of June.

Clinique Mascara Swap at Debenhams
As many of you will know Debenhams are running the Clinique Mascara swap, simply take your old, tired mascara (any brand) and swap it for a deluxe sample of their High Impact Mascara or High Lengths Mascara. I've already done this and I swapped the Soap and Glory mascara I got free from a magazine (I was really disappointed with this) for the High Impact Mascara. I've tried the High Impact mascara before as it was another freebie in a magazine and I LOVED it almost as much as the Shocking Yves Saint Laurent mascara. The swap is on now and ends on Sunday the 20th, so HURRY!

Free Body Shop Lip Stain with June Marie Claire

Marie Claire have a free Body Shop lip and cheek stain with their June issue, there are two colours available a red and caramel colour, the stains normally cost £10 each, Marie Claire costs £3.70, so a bargain. I got the red stain as I wasn't sure how the caramel colour would look on my cheeks... so played it safe!
I have quickly tried it out and it seems pretty good, I like that the stain has a wand applicator so it can be applied easily, although you may need to layer the colour on your cheeks to get a rosey cheeked look.

Also the magazine has 25% off at Kurt Geiger!! Even better!

PS. How amazing does Angelina look on this cover??

The varnish is full size (10ml), and comes in pale pink, light purple and light blue. These colours are designed specifically for Instyle. Nails Inc varnishes usually retail at around £11.

It is available from Thursday 3 May, until stocks last. I love these sort of freebies!

H&M Goodies & NOTD Miss Stone Heart

Thanks to a £5 promotion I received from H&M I bought all these goodies for a measly £5.95. I've had my eye on the blue polish (Blue My Mind usually £2.99) for awhile, its a soft purpleish blue and it's a colour which has been huge on the high street recently (Primark have shoes in this colour - but not ever in my size it seems) I also fell in love with a shirt this colour from the H&M gold label section but unfortunately again they didn't have my size :-( so this nail varnish will have to fill my lust for now.
The grey polish (Miss Stone Heart usually £2.99) is a really beautiful light grey with a lilac undertone and looks great in just one coat, perfect for rush jobs.
The brushes were a random pick up as I'm pretty lazy at washing my brushes so I was needing some back ups. The eye brush (£1.99) is lovely and soft although after trying the angled brush (usually £2.99) I'v found its a bit scratchy on my face, but it will do as a back up. So these brushes are okay but the quality is definitely reflected in the price - nothing to write home about.

New Zara Bargain Bags

Just a quick post to show you two new bags from Zara, I already have the classic Zara plated shopper bucket bag that almost everyone has (although annoyingly this sets alarms off in some shops) and I absolutely adore it, however being so large and black it doesn't really say 'summer' so I've been on the lookout for some cheaper alternatives.

I don't usually do many fashion shopping posts but I felt the need to show you these as I was amazed at the price..... £19.99 for the beige slouchy shoulder bag and £25.99 for the classic large black clutch (its pictured with a strap which it comes with although I don't like it worn with the strap) The photos really don't do them justice as I always look on Zara for bags and these didn't catch my eye at all on the online store but when I saw them in person I was in love. I think they look far more expensive than the price, however there are of course some things I would change, but for that price amazing! I've seen a few bloggers mention how much their loving Zara at the minute and I couldn't agree more.

Bargain Beauty Finds!

We always nip into Wilko's to get some bargain products, as they always have amazing offers on Simple products, Garnier and lots of other beauty and hair brands, however neither of us have ever tried any of their own brands, so when we saw their new range reviewed on a few other blogs we were really looking forward to trying these out. We were thrilled when we were contacted and asked if we would like to try some products and of course we jumped at the chance, we've had these for a couple of weeks so here are our thoughts.

Fruity Tropical Hair Mist
We received the shimmer spray but there are also fruity sprays to add protection and hydration.
Prices in the fruity hair collection (including shampoo and conditioner) start from £1.48 each or two for £2.

Elaine's Review
I absolutely love the scent of this spray, they call it tropical but I would say it was more of a banana scent. I have been using this after I have washed and dried my hair mainly because I use  Batiste tropical dry shampoo on my other hair day and that already has a lovely coconut scent. I would spray this onto your hair at arms length as it can make your hair quite wet and I can't really say that I noticed my hair having any extra shine.
I would buy this again as I like the idea of a scented hair mist, and the price is soo good!
7.5/10

Rachel's Review
Like Elaine I am in love with the banana/tropical scent of this shine spray, it really is one of the nicest smelling hair products I've tried. I don't usually use many hair care products but since getting it I've found my self reaching for it most days. I didn't find this added much shine to my just washed hair, however on hair day 2 I find it works wonders. I don't like washing my hair everyday so on the second I usually use a bit of Batiste and tie my hair back, now without fail once my hair is tied up I spray a bit of this over the top to mask the powdery Batiste smell and add a bit of natural shine back to the matt dry shampoo texture. I would definitely buy this again, its a bargain!
8/10

Fruit Berry Shower Smoothie
'Skin will be in for a real treat with these smoothing body scrubs. Each contains tiny grains of walnut shell, which gently polish skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth.'
Shower Smoothies are £1 each or 2 for £1.50 for 200ml.

Elaine's Review
Shower smoothies aren't really my kind of thing, I prefer to have a normal shower gel and separate exfoliator but I do love fruity shower products. I liked the scent of this product but found it wasn't long lasting unless you used a lot of it.
I wouldn't buy this again as it's not my kind of thing but I would be tempted to try their range of fruity shower creams especially at £1!
6/10

Rachel's Review
I love fruity shower washes and as mentioned I'm in love with my Mango Body Shop gels, so I couldn't wait to try this product. The smell was deliciously fruity and I liked that it had exfoliating grains of walnut shell in, however I was a tiny bit disappointed. I found that this wash didn't exfoliate enough or lather up enough for my liking, so in agreement to Elaine I think I would prefer two separate products, one to lather and one to exfoliate. Like Elaine said the smell didn't last long once out the shower which was a disappointment, although I know many people don't like the smell of their shower wash to linger on them, however I am not one of these people. I wouldn't buy this wash again but I will be going out to buy some of the other products in the range as I loved the smell and at 2 for £1.50 how could I resist?!
5/10

Skin Therapy Face Wash
Skin therapy say 'for daily facial care, invest in the face ash which is pH balanced, fragrance free and dermatologically tested - skin will be left feeling beautifully clean, clear and fresh.'
Prices are from 98p!

Elaine's Review
I was really pleasantly surprised by this product, I normally prefer foaming face washes as gel face washes can feel heavy on my skin but after using this my face felt really clean and it managed to take all my makeup off in one go even my eye makeup (although it does advise you to avoid your eye area). I would never have picked this up normally as the packaging makes it look very cheap so I would be worried it wouldn't be good for my skin, but I would definitely be using products from this range again. I prefer foaming face washes so I would probably try their range of deep cleansing pore strips.
8/10

Rachel's Review
I tend not to use gel face washes as I have really dry skin and I find they strip too much oil and often leave my face feeling quite tight, however I was pleasantly surprised with this product. It was really soft on my skin and left my skin feeling thoroughly cleaned without leaving my skin feeling tight or dry at all, I also liked that it didn't have much of a scent. I've been using it quite a lot (every couple of days as not to dry my skin too much) and I'm still impressed. I agree I would never have picked it up as the packaging looks like all other cheaper face washes, however I would buy this again.
7.5/10

Thermal Defence Protection Spray
The Thermal Protection Defence Spray promises to protect your hair from temperatures up to 220 degrees, the heat protection agent works to improve smoothness and reduce friction.
The spray is £1 for 200ml.

Elaine's Review
Firstly I love this spray bottle, it has a small little tap at the neck of the spray that you just twist to lock the bottle so you could easily transport it without worrying about any product leaking all over. The spray itself covers your entire head in 1 - 2 sprays, so it's great to know that your all of your hair has the same level of protection. I found after using this my hair felt really healthy and soft (I've also been using L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss shampoo & conditioner), and will definitely be getting this again.
9/10

Rachel's Review
I cannot tell you how much I love this spray bottle, its the best I've ever tried! I also think Wilkinsons have got the packaging design spot on with this product, it looks sleek, modern and technical. I haven't noticed too much difference with my hair since using it but its great to feel reassured that I'm protecting my hair and unlike others I've tried it doesn't leave any residue on the hair at all. I can't wait to try more of this range, including the dry shampoo which I've heard great things about.
8.5/10

Overall we are really impressed with this whole range, there are points we'd like to change but for the price points these products are all fantastic and we really don't think you'd find better for the price. We will without doubt be trying more of these products and as always we will let you know our thoughts.

Poundland Hair Care Find

I picked up a bottle of this Australian Bodycare Argan Oil Shampoo last week in Poundland for well a pound, I wasn't expecting much for a few reasons, firstly I'd never heard of Australian Bodycare before, secondly it was in Poundland and finally the packaging is truly shocking. I really only tried it as I needed to spend over £5 to pay on my card and it had argan oil in, whats the worst that could happen?!

Well as you can see from the picture above I now own a few bottles, I was so impressed with how healthy and shiny it left my hair I went straight back and bought the last 3 bottles on the shelf (fingers crossed they get more in) Honestly I couldn't recommend this product anymore, its the best hair product I've tried in awhile, it even nourished my bleached out ends leaving my hair shiny and not at all greasy on the second day. Unfortunately I can't find very much information on the web about this product; maybe its discontinued, but this is what the bottle tells me -

This shampoo with Argan oil is rich in vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant and together with ProVitamin B5 repairs and protects the hair leaving it smooth, shiny and healthy looking. This nourishing shampoo contains both conditioner and Silsoft Shine which leaves hair smooth, shiny and healthy looking.

Did they mention it leaves the hair smooth, shiny and healthy looking!?!?

BuyaPowa Bargain - Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner

As mentioned its blogger week on BuyaPowa and I've picked up this Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Eyeliner for the bargain price of £12 (hopefully £11 if enough people buy it) It's had great reviews so I can't wait to try it out. If you want it be quick only 47 hours left - although I feel it may sell out before then. You can see the deal here.

Cosmopolitan Full Body Hair Styling Kit

We have to tell you about this great product, we both really wanted to try out the Babyliss Wave Envy but were reluctant to pay nearly £40 on something we weren't sure would look good, so started looking for alternatives and found the Cosmopolitan hair styling kit at Argos for only £34.99 (original price £69.99).

It contains a holder case, a wand with three hair styling adapters, including a waver, curling wand and a big hot brush which you can remove to have a big barrel curler, 4 Velcro rollers and some clips. Which is an absolute bargain!

We both use this styler all the time, and love the different ways that it styles your hair, I always use the waver and Rachel prefers the curling wand. The waver and curling wand are bigger than they look in the picture so it definitely gives a modern wave look not 80's crimped.

This is perfect if you are like us and want to try out the wave trend without spending too much money, plus you get all the extras too!
